The Text ile Treasures of the WI stand at Birnmingham was fantastic Gill. So much hard work went into arranging the tour you have made this year. Well done. It was buzzing with visitors, looking for work from their area/branch. Brilliant. The quality and variety of work was amazing. Bet you are glad to be home! BestWishes Maggie
Sometimes, an Elegant Sufficiency just isn't enough. In 2008 I responded to a challenge to post a photo a day, in the company of one or two online friends. The habit of taking a daily photograph is far too good to lose however and so the project continues. Words and thoughts will stay on the original blog - here, I hope the pictures will speak for themselves.
I've formulated my own set of "rules" for myself to follow:
Though some entries will be post-dated, the actual photo will be taken on the right day.
I'll post the photo as it was taken and not manipulate it in any way.
I knit, I sew, I embroider, I paint and draw and occasionally keep a journal. I do funny things with paper, paint and glue, I make books and other stuff. Not much of this is of any use (with the possible exception of the socks I knit) but I find fun in everything I do. I love colour, texture, pattern and want to do it all perfectly - preferably in the next five minutes.
When I'm not making stuff myself, I'm teaching someone else how to do it (or teaching someone else to teach someone else to do it)

I am indeed, Maggie. But yes, it was great to be associated with such a successful exhibit and a privilege to be amongst such lovely needlework.
That is a wonderful sample of the work to choose.
It's one of my favourites Mags...such a powerful image and so beautifully embroidered. Date around the mid 1920s.
beautiful,
