Looks pretty dangerous to me.

Funnily enough I don't find these upset me like snakes do! When I was in the USA once I stayed on Hilton head Island (off South Carolina) and used to walk to work past aligators... and whilst I treated then with respect, wasn't really scared of those either.

You're a brave soul Dorothy! This one doesn't scare me because it's only a feature on a pot which a friend made for a birthday present for Mark.

Whilst we saw two small alligators at Hilton Head, what I recall most of all were the baby turtles, newly hatched and making their way by moonlight, down to the sea for a long long journey. Edward and I were with a small 4 or 5 yr old girl, who waved goodbye to each "Byebye turtle...."
So sweet....quite a remarkable thing to witness.

Perhaps they had to remove them for safety reasons.... it was a long time ago. These were in ponds by a pathway and although they were fairly small they could have done some damage! I still have, somewhere, a tiny but quite realistic rubbery one that I picked up as I walked... some child must have lost it!
